Michael W.O. Holihan

Michael Holihan is the founding member of Holihan & Harchuck. He received his B.S. from Spring Hill College and worked as a writer with The White House before receiving his J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1988.

For over 35 years, Michael has protected the intellectual property of some of the world’s largest and most recognized companies. He coordinates and executes state and nationwide enforcement plans, initiates criminal and civil seizure actions, and counsel’s clients on cost-effective anti-counterfeiting programs. He has also advised clients and litigated claims against importers, NVOCCs, customs brokers, OTI’s, logistic companies, warehouse and delivery facilitators, and freight forwarders who actively assist in the importation and distribution of goods from China and other manufacturing countries into the U.S.

Michael is board-certified as a specialist in Intellectual Property Law and has received the highest possible peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell.

Michael is a past member of the Board of Directors, Treasurer and Secretary of the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (IACC). Michael is a regular speaker and presenter at IACC and is the founder of the IACC Customs Committee and the IACC North America Task Force.

As a result of Michael’s enforcement work, he has successfully initiated well over 600 lawsuits in Federal Courts around the country to stop counterfeiters and pirates from infringing the IP of Holihan & Harchuck’s clients. Whether seeking a TRO and Seizure Order or simple injunctive relief and damages, these actions have always been undertaken as a last resort and as part of a comprehensive approach to the enforcement issue.

Michael enjoys cooking, traveling, and mountain climbing, and has climbed peaks in Tanzania, Bolivia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Michael has also trekked extensively around the U.S. and Florida.
